Support for Initial Teacher Education

PSTT has developed the Primary Science Enhancement Award (PSEA) scheme for Initial Teacher Education (ITE).

The PSEA scheme enables student teachers to increase their experience and understanding of teaching and learning in primary science.

Aims of the scheme

For Initial Teacher Education providers:

To have access to a scheme to enhance their support for trainee teachers in science. To stay up to date with primary science education developments through engaging with PSTT and their wider collaborators

For student teachers:

To start their careers with increased competence and confidence to teach science. To be confident to take up a position of school leadership in science. The scheme is supported by the Association for Science Education, the Primary Science Quality Mark and the Ogden Trust.

Key dates to note for 2023/24

PSEA Find out more meeting – not compulsory but recommended for tutors new to the scheme

Monday 26th June 2023, 2:00 – 3:00 pm

Introductory meetings – choice of two dates with attendance at one being compulsory

Monday 18th September 2023, 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Thursday 21st September 2023, 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Portfolio standardisation meetings – choice of three dates with attendance at one being compulsory

Monday 13th November 2023, 4:00 – 5:30 pm

Wednesday 15th November 2023, 5:00 – 6:30 pm

Tuesday 21st November 2023, 4:30 – 6:00 pm
